As most of us with with pets and children know, carpets defiantly have a hard time in these wet and wintery months. With muddy shoe and paw prints being trapped through the house some of us will head for the store brought carpet cleaner. Before you do, take a minute to read our top tips for removing muddy footprints from carpets.
Our top tip is to LET IT DRY!
That's right, I said it. The best thing to do is to leave it alone and not to touch it. Dirt is much easier to clean up when it is dry. Make sure you let it dry completely and try NOT to tread on it as it will penetrate deeper into the carpet fibres.
Once the mud is completely dry vacuum over it VERY slowly, on a medium power setting, to ensure you allow the vacuum time to do it’s job. Then up the power setting to remove all the dirt from the base.
If there’s any soil remaining then you can blot the area with a damp, clean, white towel, with some plain water.
DO NOT SCRUB as the will penetrate the staining deeper and do NOT use any store brought spot cleaning products or DIY mixtures that contain soap.
These types of cleaning products leave a residue, and residue attracts soil, and soil means stains. This means you’ve just completely defeated the purpose of trying to remove the spots from your carpet.
Remember: Let the mud dry completely, vacuum slowly, blot with water solution, and if all else fails, give us a call at M.B Complete Cleaning.
We hope you find this useful. If you do, don't forget to share.
