Synthetic carpets are easier to maintain than natural fibres such as wool. Here is Mikes 5 steps to remove stains from synthetic carpet.
1. Act promptly
As soon as a spill happens it is important you rectify it as soon as possible.
2. Carefully scrape away any loose debris or blot any excess liquid.
The longer the spill is on the carpet, the more damage it will create. It is important that you remove as much as the substance as possible. You can use the blunt side of a knife and kitchen roll for this.
3. DO NOT SCRUB
The most important thing to remember is DO NOT SCRUB or rub too hard as this can seal the stain in the carpet fibres.
4. Use cold water
Use a slightly damp, white towel to blot away stains', DO NOT use hot water, this may 'seal' the stain.
5. Don not use spot brought spot cleaners. Some of these products contain a bleaching agent and may cause permanent damage. They also react with professional products so we strongly recommend avoiding these.
5.5 If all else fails, call a professional
If you cant remove the stain you need to call a professional service. Whilst waiting you need to cover the area with a damp white towel or piece of polyethene until help arrives, keep the area moist.
